Originally from Portland, Oregon, Jennifer Minnis moved to North Carolina in 2013. She graduated from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with her Associates of Fine Arts in 2019, and in 2021, she obtained her Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. She has shown work in several group exhibitions and has been commissioned to create works of art for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Upon graduating, Jennifer was awarded the UNCC & Goodyear Arts Exhibition, becoming the co-curator of the ‘Of Heaven & Earth’ Exhibition along with fellow artist Amber Benton.
Jennifer’s work focuses on communicating the process of growth and change of ‘self.’ She creates both literal and metaphorical self-portraits examining the mental and spiritual health of the subject, documenting the shift in perspective through various life encounters. Raised in the Christian faith, her beliefs often influence and make their way into her work. She plans to earn her MFA in studio art while continuing to participate in Charlotte’s art scene.
